I stayed at the Lost Garden Hostel near Green Lake. It is within walking distance to most places. It is clean and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was very good and the prices reasonable.
Most of my trip revolved around the scenic Green Lake, which was only several minutes from the hostel. The lake is home to many seagulls. I have seen many seagulls at the Jersey Shore and they just dive-bomb you to get at your funnel cake! But the seagulls at Green Lake seemed more elegant than their Jersey counterparts.
The lake also has many bridges linking the several islands of the lake. It is a quite popular place to listen to talented musicians, watch artists do their craft, rent a boat, read a book, or just watch people.
I also visited the Yuantong Temple, which you climb down to see unlike most Chinese temples. I also saw the eccentric Bird and Flower Market, Wangfujing Mall area, the beautiful Yunnan University, and the Yunnan Provincial Museum.
It was a delightful two days in the Spring City. :-). Off to Dali next!
