The MixC is an shiny, new, upscale shopping mall with exceptional customer service. It has a nice flowing design with a nice touch of class. It is very inviting and spacious. The mascot is the elephant so there are whimsical elephants everywhere. You can find the usual shopping mall stores like: department stores, luxury brands, boutiques, electronics, sports, specialties, toys, shoes, and clothing. It has the usual array of delightful foods, snacks, and a beautiful dining court. There are many different restaurants preparing tasty dishes from all over China and the world. There is an upscale market called Ole' that is a foreigner's dream. The MixC even has an ice skating rink. Some stores were not open yet, but I am sure it won't be long before the place is humming at full capacity. The next phase of the mall will open in the building next door and is rumored to have a real retail Apple Store! As a shopping mall, the MixC is a wonderful experience. When I was inside I felt like I was not in Zhengzhou. In fact, there was a moment when I thought I could have been in Hong Kong!
As great as the MixC is, I think what makes it special is the timing of its opening. The first line of the Zhengzhou subway, Line 1, opened several months ago. Line 1 can drop one right in the lively middle of town near the MixC without bearing any of the crazy traffic in a car, bus or taxi. The timing of the subway and the MixC feels like Zhengzhou is on the crest of being something special. It may be the effect of the recent nice weather, but Zhengzhou seems like a changed city with more to come. Now if something could be done about the pollution, dust, and the traffic…ha!
